mission in action
Jesus' instruction to his disciples was to "Go and make disciples of all nations." For many of us, we just have to "go" to work, or to the pub, or to the house next door to meet people who might be tomorrow's disciples. This is our "mission". However, God calls some people to "go" to a specific place and respond to the physical, social and (most importantly) spiritual needs of the people there. It might be a hospital in central Africa, a youth project in the UK, or a place where there has never before been a church. The MIA co-ordinates the support that Highfield offers to those whom God calls in this way. The church currently supports several Mission Partners through the provision of financial aid and prayer for their work around the world. Each year Highfield also sends a number of students and young people on short term assignments.
If you would like to know more about Highfield's Mission Partners, ask a member of the MIA about regular mission prayer meetings and Mission Partner information updates, or click here. We can also tell you about opportunities to join short-term mission teams, or put you in touch with mission organisations. Among the group members are those with long-term cross-cultural mission experience, so there's someone you can talk to wherever God wants you to "go". Updates from our Mission Partners are available in Outside In.
Highfield Church has also undertaken, in partnership with Food for the Hungry UK (FH), to do something that will make a permanent difference to the lives of the people of Nkunga.
