Highfield Causeway Prospects

‘A Christian organisation which values and supports adults with learning difficulties to help them live their lives to the full'

Causeway Prospects has a new look and, indeed, a new name. The powers that be have decided to call everything that the charity does ‘PROSPECTS' - this is because many people were confused about the identity of the charity. Prospects is the lead Christian organisation for people with learning disabilities and their families; as a charity their aim is to provide appropriate quality support enabling people to live their lives to the full. Removing the word ‘Causeway' (which was just one element of the charity's work) and replacing it with ‘Prospects' should hopefully serve to unify everything that the organisation does.

And so the Highfield Causeway group will now be known as Highfield Prospects.

In my last editorial in July I spoke about the summer being a time of uncertainty for us as we faced the possibility of a number of our group moving out of the area. We had a few sessions that were fairly quiet, with only a handful of members, but we are thankful to God that it now looks like the full group is back together again.

We are currently looking at Jesus' Sermon on the Mount, starting off with the beatitudes and then moving onto the challenging teaching in the rest of Matthew 5-7. Please pray for us that we would be able to communicate this teaching in an appropriate and accessible way, but that our times together (which consist of a time of fellowship, songs, prayers, games and a talk) would also be a time of joy and fun. Please also pray that the core message of Jesus' teaching would be well received.

The Highfield Prospects team intend to meet together soon to discuss the future of the group and any possible developments we would like to make (especially in terms of advertising it to new members). Please pray for us as we discuss these issues.

Give thanks for:

  • The full group being back together again after a quiet summer
  • Our speakers over the past year
  • The continued sense of fun, warmth and fellowship that the group enjoys

Please pray for:

  • More speakers to join us and give short talks
  • Wisdom as to communicate Jesus' teaching in an accessible and appropriate way
  • Guidance for the team members as we discuss possible future developments for the group
